Styled By Sam: Islee Jo #DoItForTheDames

Do It For the Dames

Hi Everyone! I’m so glad to be back with the results of our Do It For the Dames contest from (gasp!) last year. If you don’t know what that is, check out this post and this post. Now that you’re all caught up, let’s get into it!

Our contest winner was the lovely Islee, who is a Stitchfix stylist and youtuber from Dallas. Islee is a fun and very easy person to style and shoot, which I think shows in the photos for sure. We all met up at Strut in the Bishop Arts District, we were lucky enough to get to use Strut items to style this shoot! Let’s take a look.

Look One: Dark Florals for (Texas) Winter

This look played with textures quite a bit! My goal was to pack a bunch of personality into one look, without overdoing it. Strut had a ton of velvet items, so I paired a few together for a very textural experience. There was also the challenge of bringing the winter feel into the look without overheating Islee- Texas isn’t known for its cold winters.

The final look was a muted, but funky look that I think suited her exceptionally well. Islee sure seemed to have a lot of fun with it! I mean look at that gorgeous smile!

Look Two: Rock ‘n Roll Sequins

So let me start this off my saying- Islee rocked the SHIT out of those stairs. Okay, now lets talk about the outfit. At the time, it was early November and that meant we needed to inject a lil holiday spirit into the shoot. This silver Silver Sequin Dress was EXACTLY what I was looking for.

And because I am me, I needed to throw a leather jacket on her. From looking though her Do It For the Dames entry photos, I knew Islee could easily pull off an edgy look like this. Which is why I added the red boots- they are as fun and vibrant as she is! Once again, we were playing with textures (aka my favorite thing to do).
