Summer To Fall: Transitional OOTD
Working in retail really skews my perception of when the fall season starts. By early July, we start getting in the first bits of our pre-fall line. The occasional skater skirt, but in satin. Your basic t-shirt dress, but in a heavier weight. Slowly they start infiltrating the store, despite the insane heat we have here in Dallas. And even though there is a bright yellow sundress two racks over, I start thinking about dressing for fall. Today’s outfit is what we like to call, transitional.
The star of this show is the little green, off shoulder top. It features an elastic waistband to give the top some ruffle, and some cute little sleeves. Its simple. The color is a nice compramise between the brighter greens of summer, and the olive tones of fall. Like I said, transitional.
The details I threw on here are nice and simple, but a little more extra than I normally do. Lets face it, the crop top and denim look gets boring without a little something to jazz it up!
I fell in love with this necklace from Vacancy Road, because it looked like little planets or moons. Layered necklaces are always a good choice when you’ve skipped wearing a pattern, because they add much more visual interest to the look. Like I always say, keep the eye moving.
The bracelet is from Eloisa’s Store and I love this because it goes with everything! I might be guilty of wearing it every day for the past week.
Now on to the rest of the look. You likely recognize my favorite mom shorts ever. Also known as the only shorts I own right now, aside from my Adidas shorts. Lets blame that on my refusal to return items that I’ve purchased online and the fact that I gain most of my weight in my hips. And also the fact that the fashion/retail industry can’t just fucking size everything the same way. I should not fit into a 4, 6, and 8. But that is a rant for another day soooooo….
The shorts. I love them, they’re great. That is all.
And the shorts go awesome with my favorite little black booties! I firmly believe we should all own a lace-up boot of some sort. Tucked into those little boots are some of my favorite winter socks, that are knitted and marled and BEAUTIFUL. I have them in three different colors and wear them a lot. The heavily textured sock just adds a bit of interest and I love ’em.
I think the key to wearing transitional outfits is to just take bits and pieces from the upcoming season. Like, my socks + boots combo and the color palette. Everything else is still summer. I also kept my makeup light and glowy!
