The weather has been more than a little bit dreary here in Dallas, so Averi was stoked to actually go outside today. She’s super into collecting leaves- there are about a million decorating our apartment. Today she was on the hunt for the perfect red leaf. It needed to be big and dark and very red.
She got a bit sidetracked by all the fun as leaves are perhaps the most fun thing to throw around ever.
Her dad recently ordered her this brilliant red beanie from Herschel Supply Co. If you couldn’t already tell, she’s in love with all things red so she tends to wear this often.
It works out since her wardrobe is primarily grey and navy anyway.
It’s been fun to watch her grow up and develops opinions on her clothing. She likes certain colors and wants her clothing to fit a certain way, even if she isn’t sure how to properly express that right now.
I can only imagine how opinionated she will be in a few years. We’ve been trying to make sure that she understands that she has a say in how she looks- for example she gets to decide when she gets a haircut and what haircut she gets.
She currently thinks I’m a super mom because I fix her toys. Hopefully when she’s older she thinks I’m a super mom because I let her be who she wants to be.
Even when she wants to look like Christmas 24/7. Even when she wants to wear a Spongebob swimsuit with grey sparkly pants and holographic shoes.
In the end, it was great to spend time with her doing something so simple, but so fun. We collected a solid pile of leaves that she promptly stuck all over the walls.
